Trusts are required to commission an independent governance review at least every three years for the following reasons. This report has been produced by Dr David Levy, Panel Chair with the full support and input of panel members.

The RRR findings contained in this report have been agreed with the Trust for factual accuracy. This report was issued to attendees at the risk summit, which focussed on supporting Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the trust) was a clinically led organisation which had a stable board made up of executive and non-executive directors. During this inspection we found, without exception, leaders had the skills, knowledge and integrity to lead the trust.

The year was one of continued progress for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in terms of performance, strategy and leadership. I would like to thank all staff and volunteers across Kings Mill, Newark and Mansfield Community Hospitals for contributing to a positive year.

The Sherwood Forest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (SFH) is a large district general hospital located between two teaching hospitals. SFH has recently been renovated and had a significant investment in its facilities. The trust was previously put into special measures by The Care Quality Commission (CQC).
